Do not use the espresso machine if you don't know how. You could damage it, and will certainly make a mess. Ask someone who likes espresso to show you what to do.
Startup
- Check the water level. The machine does not have a water level interlock, so a low water level could cause overheating.
Operation
- Clean off any pieces of equipment before putting them on the top of the machine. This includes the tamper and filter.
Cleanup
- Remove the filter, and dispose of the grounds.
- Check that the filter did not separate from the handle and end up in the trash.
- Rinse the filter in the sink.
- Re-insert the filter into the machine and hit the "single shot" button. Have a cup underneath to catch the water. This helps rinse out the machine.
- Rinse the filter in the sink and dry with a paper towel.
- Clean the entire area
- Leave the clean filter on top of the machine
- Empty and rinse the tray if needed.
