Welcome to the Harvard Doyle Research Group!

With a versatile technique of cryogenic buffer-gas cooling we prepare bright beams and trapped samples of very cold molecules for exploring quantum science, elementary particle physics and ultracold chemistry. While our molecules of interest are initially created at hundreds or thousands of degrees Kelvin, they quickly thermalize to cryogenic temperatures (1-10 K) through collisions with cold, inert helium or neon gas. When not thinking about how awesome molecules are, we enjoy aligning lasers, machining, welding, and brazing.

The Doyle Group is a part of the Harvard University Department of Physics, and a member in the Harvard-MIT Center for Ultracold Atoms (CUA), a National Science Foundation Physics Frontier Center.
